Map 1: overview of Clausthal and the university buildings
Directions: by car
From Hanover (north) and Kassel (south): Take the autobahn A7 to exit number 67 Seesen (Harz); Follow highway B243 toward Osterode; After approx. 8 km, exit onto highway B242 towards Clausthal-Zellerfeld; Once in Clausthal continue straight through the traffic lights and follow the arrows on map 2; Take the 2nd left into Burgstätter-Str; Cross Erz-Str. to take Aula-Str. towards the Aula (Great Hall of the university); Drive around the right hand side of the Aula and turn right into Robert-Koch-Str; The Institute for Metallurgy (IMet) is on the right at the end of the road.
Map 2: enlargement of map 1
From Berlin: Take autobahn A2 to the autobahn intersection Kreuz Braunschweig-Nord (exit 55); Merge onto autobahn A391 towards Braunschweig and continue for about 10 km to the autobahn intersection Dreieck BS-Südwest (exit 8); From here take the A39 toward Bad Harzburg/Wolfenbüttel/BS-Süd for just 1.5 Km untill Kreuz Braunschweig-Süd (exit 13); Merge onto the A395 toward Bad Harzburg/Wolfenbüttel; Take the exit onto the B6 highway toward Goslar/Bad Harzburg/Harlingerode; Take the exit toward A7/Hannover/Kassel/Goslar to stay on the B6; Exit toward B241/Immenröder Straße turning right after the exit ramp onto the B241/ Immenröder Straße; Follow the 241 (turning left at the lights into Reiseckenweg after about 1 km) all the way to Clausthal-Zellerfeld; In Clausthal continue following the B241 through a sort of a roundabout and onto Alternauer-Str. where the arrows on map 2 start; Turn right into Robert-Koch-Str. where the Institute of Metallurgy is on the corner.
From Leipzig: Take the autobahn A38 towards Göttingen until exit 10-Werther for B80 toward Werther/Nordhausen-West/Wolkramshausen/B243 turn left after the exit ramp (signs for B80/Nordhausen-West/B243); Turn left again after 1 km at B243/Osteröder Landstraße; Continue to follow B243 for 31 km and then turn left to merge onto B243/B27; Turn right at B243/Osteroder Straße to continue to follow B243; Take the exit toward B241 turning right at the end of the exit ramp; In Clausthal turn right at the traficlights and follow the arrows on map 2; Take the 2nd left into Burgstätter-Str. Cross Erz-Str. to take Aula-Str. towards the Aula (Great Hall of the university) ; Drive around the right hand side of the Aula and turn right into Robert-Koch-Str; The Institute for Metallurgy (IMet) is on the right at the end of the road.
Directions: by train and bus
From Hanover and Leipzig: Take the train to Goslar; From Goslar station, take bus no. 830 to Robert-Koch-Str., in front of the Institute of Metallurgy (bus stop marked on the right side of map 2) or alternatively 831 to Kronenplatz (bus stop marked on the left side of map 2), and walk from there (800 m).
From Kassel: Take the train to Northeim; from Northeim station, take bus no. 440 to Kronenplatz, (bus stop marked on the left side of map 2), and walk from there (800 m).

The nearest international airport is Hannover, approx. 100 km from Clausthal-Zellerfeld.
